Welcome to Nancy’s World! I am so excited to welcome you to my new blog and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I will enjoy writing it.
I bet you are wondering what this blog is all about…well, EVERYTHING. I have a wealth of information that I want to share and I want you to be an active participant too. What areas will this blog touch on, you ask? Well, let me give you my history and that should explain many of your questions.
I was born a poor black child in….wait, no, that was the guy from The Jerk Movie (for those old enough to understand), so sorry. To be serious now. I am a post-menopausal 50-year-old woman who has been cancer free (kidney) for four years. I also have Crohn’s disease, inflammatory arthritis, and have had some sort of surgery every year for the last 5 years. I have a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree as a family nurse practitioner and have been in health care for 28 years. Cooking is my passion and I have had to change many of my recipes since becoming gluten-free 9 months ago. I also love to laugh and to find the humor in life. With the support of my family and friends, and my ability to find humor even in the most challenging times, I have persevered!
So why have I shared all these personal things? The reason is because I get it. I understand what being a patient is and how frustrating medical issues can be. But I also have a great deal of experience and knowledge as a health care provider, making me a great asset. I believe that I am a better nurse practitioner because of my health experiences. My philosophy in my practice is to treat my patients the way I want to be treated, and I have very high expectations of my health care providers.
It is my hope that you will not only gain knowledge and insight from my experiences, but that you will find the humor in how I present it. I also will be giving you some recipes, some healthy, some not, and some that are gluten-free. Please let me know what you would like from this blog since it is a work in progress. I also need to mention that while I can give you up-to-date information on health care issues, and some suggestions, I cannot treat you. Welcome again and looking forward to becoming part of your “blog” life.
I love your blog and look forward to following you!
